Week 1/12 - 1/16

This week week we did all different things. We learned that if rock layers arnt affected by the fault line then they are younger, if they are affected by the fault line they are older. On monday we reviewed what we talked about on friday 1/9. We were learning about rocks. Igneous, Metamorphic, and Sedamentary. For homework we also had to start our study guide for our test on wednesday 1/21. Every night we had to do 25 more percent of the study guide. On tuesday we observed rocks. Macro, and Micro observations. The macro rock was the color of lightish gray. There were crystals everywhere on the rock. There were some white blothes on the rock. It had sharp edges, rough, had holes, crystals inside. On the micro there were basically tiny crystals everywhere. There were more holes than the macro. On wednesday we did an experiment with crystals. Our hypothesis was we expect was if there was a large amount of time, there would be large crystals. The smaller amount of time, the smaller crystals. We put these crystals in hot water, cold and room temperature. We put the same amount of crystals in. On thursday, Mr. Finley showed us the outcome of the different temperatures of crystals. The room temperature looks like a jellyfish. The ice one looked like that there was a million crakes in it. There was an indent towards the top. There were rough edges. The boiling one looked like it had a outside layer had another layer. There were a billion crakes in it. On friday we made a chart about the rocks. Igneous, Metamorphic, and Sedamentary. We also did a worsheet about rock types. Mr. Finley gave us a rock, and decided if it was igneous, Metamorphic, or Sedamentary. This week was pretty intense!!!
